We made it you guys! We got through the holidays and now it’s time to focus on our holiday recovery plan. There are six days until the New Year, till the end of the decade – so we’re in this weird in between place.
I don’t know about you, but I am exhausted. If I had to give this holiday stars, it would be 2/5. I just wasn’t feeling the holiday season and I will shamelessly admit that I’m glad it’s over.
Working in retail.
Missing loved ones.
Coping with your mental illness.
Running out of spoons.
Disappointment over your experience.
We all have our reasons to recover.
Here are some ideas for your holiday recovery plan.
Bundle up and take a slow walk. Breathe deep. Notice your surroundings and the sounds. Release the tension in your shoulders. Enjoy the moment.
Enjoy the gifts in your life – whether they’re the actual gifts you got on Christmas or something different – recognize the things that are going right in your life.
Focus on warmth and comfort. Curl up in your favorite pjs, light a fire in the fireplace, or curl up with your blankets.
Rest and try to get more sleep. The holidays can take a lot out of you.
Put boundaries on your time and your energy. See if you can give yourself some time and space for rest and relaxing.
Do yoga in bed or some gentle stretches. Check out this post for my favorite Yoga-in-bed routines.
Practice hygge and self-soothing. It’s all about comforting yourself and doing the things that help ease your mind, body, and soul. Discover what those things are for you.
Enjoy leftovers or go easy on yourself and get take-out. You deserve a break, especially if you’ve been busy cooking and baking.
At the end of the day, self-care is different for everyone, so do what’s good for you!
