38th birthday

Happy 38th Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my 38th birthday and I had a fantastic day spending it with my hubby. We went out to lunch and had Korean BBQ which is one of my favorites. I love how immersive it is to cook the meat together and it tastes great. Then we went shopping, visited an aquarium, and then had mochi donuts for dessert because I’m of much of a cake fan. Here are some of my favorite pictures! The look on my husband’s face with the birds cracks me up. He loves animals of all kids so much and that’s an accurate representation of his face whenever he sees one!

38th birthday

I can’t believe I made it to my 38th birthday. 20 years ago I never would have imagined that I’d be here and that I’d be so happy. I woke up feeling loved and went to bed feeling loved and everything in between was wonderful. Depression tells you that you’ll never ever get to that point. That everything will be terrible forever. It does get better.

My birthday wish is that you wake up every day feeling loved and knowing that you matter and deserve to be happy. I wish that you feel loved – from family, friends, partners, or pets. I hope you know that you matter and the world is so happy to have your uniqueness exist. And I want you to know that you deserve to be happy and I hope you’re able to find those things that light you up.

Sappy, I know. But it’s true.

If I could share with you one thing that I’ve learned in 38 years it’s to never give up on your mental health. Mental illness SUCKS and the amount of energy and time and resources that some of us have to spend just getting our brains to function the way brains are supposed to is ROUGH. But don’t give up. Always make it a priority. Do what you can when you can. Don’t give up.

Thank you for being here and thank you for celebrating my 38th birthday with me.

You are awesome.
