Like Falling Leaves: Release

Happy Autumn Equinox, Mabon, first day of Autumn, time of hoodies and cocoa, warm blankets, and release. The best time of the year (in my humble opinion). Am I the only one that gets really contemplative around this time? I realize that time is running out. All of the things I want to accomplish this year have only three short months left in which to do it.

I also start thinking about all of the many paths my feet have tread this year and how I have ended up where I am right now. It’s so interesting to look back and see how much we have changed in a nine month span. Amazing things happen!

Are you where you wanted to be?

Take a moment to check in with yourself and see how you can still accomplish those things that you want to get done this year. Or maybe you’ve realized that the goals you had at the beginning of the year are irrelevant now because you are a different person with different wants and needs. Just take a look at things and see where you stand.

Let’s play a game. I want you to say in your head the first thing that comes to mind when I ask you the next question.

What do you want to let go of? What’s your autumn release?

THAT, that is your mission. That’s what I want you to focus on right here and right now.
That thing you want to let go of, that’s following you around like a dark cloud, that’s taking away some of your shine and brilliance. It’s time to let it go,

Are you still being affected by something bad that happened this year? Are you still holding on to the experience? Playing it over and over in your head wondering how things could’ve been different? I don’t know about you, but I still haven’t mastered the art of letting go and often times it takes me a while to really let go of the bad stuff.

One thing that has helped me is taking a piece of paper and writing it all down, all of the suck, and then burning it (in a fireproof container of course). Me and you, we gotta work on this together. (Well maybe not you, but me.)

That’s just the first step. Then you keep working on it. Keep dealing with it until it stops following you around. You do the work. You find a way. That process is different for everyone. The recipe to your letting-go-ness is uniquely yours.

But the first step is always the most powerful.

That moment that you make the conscious choice to write down what is bothering you and then look it in the eye and tell it that you aren’t going to let it bother you anymore and then you set it on fire. That’s pure magic. That’s taking back your power.

Have you accomplished the things you’ve wanted to accomplish so far this year?
