Mabon Correspondences: the Autumn Equinox

The Autumn Equinox, the start of fall, the winding down of the harvest season is right around the corner. It is a time of balance when night and day are equal. It’s also called Mabon and represents a time of Thanksgiving for Pagan folk. I’m sharing a list of Mabon correspondences if you’re interested in celebrating the season. (Don’t forget to check out my Self-Care Magic for Mabon Workbook!)

I’m going to be celebrating in a low-key way. I’m thinking pumpkin spice coffee in the park with my journal in front of me. It’s a time for contemplation, adjustment, and finding balance. I like to look at where my life is going right now and then adjust it as needed. Am I on the right path? Am I going where I need to go?

Activities for Mabon

Make a gratitude list. This is the Pagan Thanksgiving. Take stock of all of the things in your life that you’re thankful for. Say “Thank You” to your loved ones and the Universe. Celebrate all of your blessings.

Do a super deep clean on your home. Get rid of what you don’t need. This is your opportunity to get your house ready for the cooler temperatures. Pull out your cold-weather wear and wash it so it’s ready when the temperatures drop.

Bless your home, asking the Universe/God/Goddess/Great Spirit to protect your home and those inside of it.

Decorate with pumpkins, autumn leaves, and fall colors like red, orange, and yellow.

Apple and cinnamon are great scents for the season. Burn candles or incense that get you into an Autumn celebrating mood.

Bake bread or apple-themed dishes. This is a harvest holiday which means it’s a great time to embrace the fruits and veggies that are harvested at this time. Drink apple cider, bake bread and accompany it with soups made from root veggies.
