Give yourself the same kindness, attention, and care that you give to the people around you.

I did a big (for me) thing today. I let my partner deal with something that made me anxious instead of feeling like I had to do it because I need to be in control of everything all the time no matter what or the world is going to crash and burn around me. And he did a great job.

I made this list of things that I want people to u I made this list of things that I want people to understand about social anxiety.
Of course, I don't speak for everyone with social anxiety, this is from personal experience!
One thing I have learned is that it is really important to communicate how you feel with the people around you. Social anxiety can make it really hard to navigate friendships and relationships but communication is everything (which I know can be anxiety-inducing as well!)

💗 We can talk about mental health in general - because we all have mental health even if we don't have a mental illness.

🧡 We can raise awareness about the lack of resources and mental health services/affordability/availability and highlight organizations and people that are working to change that

💛 We can share how we are affected by mental illness so that other people know that they're not alone

💚 We can break through stereotypes and educate people about the realities of mental health/illness

Here are some prompts that I think can create some really good conversations!

I wanted to hold space for those of us that feel that stay-in-bed-all-day heaviness today too. Who don't feel like celebrating for reasons that are hard to talk about. I love you.

Be kind to yourself and have compassion for the way you feel. Your feelings are valid and important and you matter.

Anyone else have complicated feelings about tomorr Anyone else have complicated feelings about tomorrow? Earlier this evening I was sitting on my back porch, talking to my partner about my mom. She passed away four years ago and each year is a different flavor of grief.

This is a loving reminder that it's okay to feel big complicated things.

I'm having a bad day. I didn't get much sleep so I I'm having a bad day. I didn't get much sleep so I woke up cranky, my WiFi was down for maintenance, and then the first email I saw was from someone disputing their $199 charge of my worksheet bundle. Stripe already gave them a refund and charged me a dispute fee. 😭

As I was planning out my day today I decided that I could either get on with the day (and be cranky) or I could take some time to give myself some TLC (and then see how I feel in a few hours).

Making this already helped though. It's okay to have bad days. It's okay to complain. It's okay to be in a pissy mood. You're human.
