The Potential of a Seed

How do you wish to grow?

I really have no idea! Oftentimes I don’t start writing this blog until I know what I am going to write, today’s different because I want an answer for myself. I want it to flow out of me and what better way to do that than to put the fingers to the keyboard and let the words out?

I wish to grow into my inner wise woman.

There, that’s it. I think what got me stuck was the word “grow”. It invokes the thought of slowness, of a process, of watering, soil, and sunlight. Something that isn’t easy, yet happens beautifully when it is time.

Growing isn’t an easy process, especially for me because I resist change so strongly. However, to be that person that I see in my mind… the changes, the pain, the uncomfortable-ness of transformation, the straining against the old, the tentative embracing of the new… it’s all worth it to be that person that I know I am.

A seed knows what it has the potential to become the moment it is planted into the earth. Whether or not it actually becomes that depends on the work that is put into it. The rain, the sunlight, the room for the roots to dig deep into the ground.

That’s how you grow.

That’s how I wish to grow.

I will put in the work. I will prune my branches of what I don’t need. I will let go of the things that are inhibiting my growth so that my roots have room to dig deep. I will water myself with love and compassion and I will allow myself to soak up the things that nourish me.
