You Are Not Unworthy

We’ve all had those moments in life when we let the view of someone else determine how we feel about ourselves. I think about the times in my life that I’ve felt unworthy and they flash through my brain in quick succession. Exes, crushes, friendships, that time in 10th grade when I was on the school newspaper and they all had a pizza party and didn’t invite me and despite my love of writing, I quit the next day because obviously, I was full of suck.

There will always be someone who just doesn’t think that you’re their cup of tea.

And not everyone likes tea, or they prefer theirs unsweetened, or green, or flavored, or fruity, and despite the fact that you are an amazing cup of tea just the way you are, not everyone is going to like you and that’s okay.

You’ll get passed up for promotions, you’ll get cheated on, you’ll be stood up, forgotten about, ignored and none of that affects how much you are worth. Your worth remains the same no matter how much people use you or abuse you, no matter how they mistreat you or make you feel like you aren’t worth anything.

Your worth is still the same.

The only time your value decreases is when you decide it does. It’s all up to you. And even then. Your value is still the same, you just can’t see it, so you start treating yourself badly or treating others badly or letting other people treat you badly.

Don’t do that. Any of it. And if you find yourself doing those things you can stop right now. Oh, it’s not going to happen overnight. Maybe not even next month, or the month after, but you can start right now. Start stopping right now. You know what I mean. Live up to your value as a human being, all stardust and sunshine and life-force and love and laughter. Dear God, we humans are amazing if we just let ourselves believe it.

When we value ourselves amazing things happen.

We find love that shakes us to our soul (in the good way). We learn how to ask for what we need and even if we don’t get it we’re proud of ourselves for trying, for not settling. Value your time and spend it on the things and the people that make you happy. Value your body and share it with people who you like and who respect you as the awesome human being that you are.

Your value has only the limits that you set upon it. It does not decrease based on someone’s inability to see it.

You are an amazing cup of tea.
